Head of Production & Industrialization, Electric Motorcycles

• Location: South Jakarta (hybrid), with regular time at their assembly partner in Cikarang and travel overseas.
• Reporting to: Founder & CEO

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is a venture-backed Indonesian electric motorcycle company. As a Head of Production & Industrialization, you will own everything related to producing the motorcycle: taking the current vehicle program through validation, pilot builds and start of production, then building the systems to produce it reliably at scale. You will also set up after-sales readiness from scratch, as service, spare parts and warranty partners have not yet been contracted. You will be expected to work at every level: setting the plan, building the systems, managing partners, and personally solving problems on the factory floor and at supplier sites.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Industrialization and production readiness

- Own the production-readiness plan from design freeze through start of production

- Coordinate validation, tooling, supplier readiness, homologation, pilot builds and ramp-up

- Set clear build-readiness gates and release criteria

- Identify critical-path risks and drive recovery plans across internal teams and partners

Assembly partner and supplier management

- Lead day-to-day execution with the contracted assembly partner and with component, battery and electronics suppliers

- Make sure suppliers meet timing, quality, cost and capacity requirements

- Put in place APQP / PPAP processes suited to our stage and volumes

- Lead supplier escalation and corrective action when performance falls short

Quality

- Build a practical quality system for an early-stage motorcycle company

- Define critical-to-quality characteristics, incoming inspection, in-process control, end-of-line testing and final vehicle release

- Implement traceability for vehicles, batteries, controllers and other critical components

- Lead containment, root-cause analysis and 8D, and control engineering changes before they reach production

Planning, cost and supply chain

- Keep one source of truth for production readiness, risks, owners and deadlines

- Own operational cost visibility, from supplier pricing to landed vehicle cost

- Manage lead times, MOQs, inventory, logistics and production planning

- Improve supplier commercial and payment terms

After-sales readiness

- Select and set up service, spare parts and warranty partners before first customer deliveries

- Make sure service tooling, diagnostics, documentation and spare-parts supply are ready in time

- Build the feedback loop from field failures back to engineering, production and suppliers

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN 12 MONTHS

- Supplier quality, manufacturing quality, traceability and change control in place

- Clear visibility of BOM cost, inventory, lead times and working capital

- Service, spare parts, warranty and diagnostics ready before customer deliveries

- A small operations team hired and able to support higher volumes

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required

- 10+ years in automotive, motorcycle, EV, battery, Tier-1 or other complex electromechanical manufacturing

- Bachelor's degree (S1) in Mechanical, Electrical or another engineering discipline

- Hands-on experience taking products from development into mass production, ideally several launches

- Direct experience with external suppliers and contract manufacturers: tooling, part approval, supplier quality

- Strong understanding of BOMs, engineering change control and traceability

- Enough technical depth to challenge both engineers and suppliers. We are looking for an engineer, not a pure project manager

- Fluent professional English

- Willingness to spend real time on factory floors and at supplier sites

Strong advantages

- Mandarin Chinese (business level)

- Motorcycle / two-wheeler manufacturing experience

- Electric vehicle, battery pack, BMS or motor controller experience

- Experience at an established OEM followed by a startup, new plant or new business unit

- Experience working with suppliers in China

- CKD / local assembly, homologation or TKDN experience

- Field quality, warranty or after-sales experience

- You ride a motorcycle regularly

This role is probably not for you if

- Your experience is mainly in general operations, procurement or administration without ownership of quality or industrialization

- You have only managed mature, stable production

- You rely on large teams, specialist departments and established systems to get things done

- You prefer managing through dashboards rather than visiting suppliers and plants
